Apology

The following is an open letter in apology for the story we posted last week titled, “Home Not Coming.”

Apology

The Staff of The Sting

Dear Readers,

The Sting would like to sincerely apologize for our recently published article, “Home Not Coming.” The story has since been pulled down from our website.

Our mission statement says we will “preserve and protect the history of Azle High School and strive to tell every students’ story in an honest and fair fashion.” Not only did we fail in this regard, we fell far short of the journalistic standards and accountability we strive for.

In short, we did not have all the facts. We did not ask all the questions we needed to ask, and, most of all, we vastly downplayed and misrepresented all the hard work that Student Council put into the wonderful homecoming festivities they sponsored this year and every year.

For all this, we apologize. We only hope that the student council can forgive us for this egregious misstatement and that the students, faculty and staff of this high school do not lose trust in The Sting. We will do better.

Sincerely,

The Staff of The Sting
