The Sting Appreciates Coach Cockerham

Coach Bret Cockerham can be recognized for his humility and the stress-free attitude he brings to his classroom. 20 years a teacher, with two at Azle, coach Cockerham coaches swim and golf, and began teaching On-Ramps economics with the start of the school year.

Coach Cockerham teaches with the careful goal in mind of preparing his students for life after high school. Though new to teaching On-Ramps economics, he constantly tries to bring its topics beyond course material, relating them to real- world problems.

Coach Cockerham bases his teaching on the philosophy that “There’s always room for improvement,” and he applies this to both himself and his students. As a first- year On-Ramps teacher, he’s centered his class around learning with his students. Through this process, he’s developed great rapport with them, something he considers influential to their success.

Past educational experience, Coach Cockerham is known to be friendly, kind, and easy to get along with. He makes a strong point of not just trying to teach his students, but to befriend them as well.
