Under the Friday night lights, Halloween will really put the spirit in “school spirit” this year as students get ready for a football game on Halloween night! Many of the school organizations are preparing for terrifying costumes, holiday traditions, and an atmosphere unlike any other for Oct. 31.
Despite the nerves from students due to the face-off against Aledo, athletes in the game are excited for the Halloween spirit. However, that isn’t the case for some who value their trick-or-treating time.
“I’m kind of upset because like, people have plans on Halloween, and then it just kind of gets in the way of other stuff,” Marching Green Pride member and senior Jayden Petty said. “I mean like, Halloween is a holiday, you should get to spend time with your family and stuff.”
Either way, Petty said he views it as an opportunity for a spirit so strong, it’s scary.
“I’m excited to see what people do, and what costumes people decide to wear,” Petty said. “If people even go, because I know it’s going to be a little different.”
Senior cheerleader Kyler Betz said she’s feeling the excitement, especially since she is experiencing her last Football season of high school.
“I’m actually really excited,” Betz said. “I feel like it’s going to be fun, especially because it’s my senior year and I’ve never experienced cheering on Halloween. So, I just feel like the atmosphere is gonna be fun.”
Betz isn’t the only one who feels this way. Senior and Cheerleader Bailey Smith shared her eagerness for the game.
“[I’m] definitely [most excited for] the atmosphere,” Smith said. “We’re playing Aledo, so both teams are going to be competitive against each other.”
Regardless of how the game turns out, there’s nothing that can break the spirit between players and teammates.
“The most exciting part is just getting to spend time with my cheer team, who are like my best friends,” Betz said. “And no matter what, I’ll be with them on the sidelines.”
