New teacher alert! Amanda Seymour, who was most recently teaching in Decatur, is an English II teacher. She grew up on her family’s ranch in Colorado and went to Colorado Mesa University.
While she originally wanted to study agriculture and animal science, her college didn’t offer it, so she decided to try out her childhood dream of becoming a teacher.
“At first, it was kind of like a backup plan,” Seymour said. “I’ll do this for a little while. But then when I started teaching and coaching for a few years, I really, really loved it.”
For her fourth year, she has made the move to Azle.
“I wanted to stay in the area because I have animals, and so I was just looking around, and I interviewed at Azle,” Seymour said. “They called me and said ‘You have a job if you want it,’ and I did because Azle was my first choice. I’m just excited to be here and get to know students and watch you guys grow and learn.”
