This past summer, biology teacher Tasha Ditto returned to Texas after living in Tennessee for a few short years.
Before coming to Azle, Ditto most recently taught at Saginaw High School. She currently teaches Biology in the new science building. Her two daughters also attend the high school while her husband works for a non-profit organization.
“I previously taught at a middle school in Tennessee,” Ditto said. “My husband went to grad school in Tennessee so I used to live in Weatherford and worked at Saginaw High School and then we moved to Tennessee for a few years. And then I moved back out here just last summer.”
Ditto said earning has always been something that interested her, so it was almost like second nature to her.
“I don’t know if there was a defining moment,” she said. “I was just a really big nerd, and I really liked learning and I mistakenly thought everybody did so I thought teaching would be fun. I think we learned that that was not the case, but I still really like teaching.”
Ditto said she has many plans for this school year. Her biggest goal is to keep her students up on their feet and working on interactive and fun activities.
“I want to have a lot of hands-on lessons,” she said. “I’m a big fan of the students doing a lot of the work and working with things.”
