Out of all the movies that came out in 2024, there were some that didn’t live up to the hype while others were incredible and genius. We made a list of our top films of the year, and we’ll explain why they are in the order we chose.

9. Strangers: Chapter 1

If you want a good scare, this movie is for you. This is a remake from the first one that came out in 2008. This movie does leave out things from the first, but adds more. Despite all the crazy things that come up in this movie, it’s actually based on a true story.

8. Anyone But You

Everyone loves a good rom-com. This movie will have you laughing one minute, then in awe the next. There is a lot of character development filled with love. It’s definitely a movie you would want to rewatch.

7. It Ends With Us

This movie was based on a book by Colleen Hoover. Throughout the movie, there are lots of different emotions. This movie teaches life lessons, such as… Whether you want a good cry or the feeling of romance, this movie has it all.

6. The Wild Robot

There were lots of animated movies that came out in 2024, and “The Wild Robot” was one of the best to be released. It was an entertaining movie with a good story and incredible animation that most people will enjoy.

5. Moana 2

Although it just recently came out in theatres, “Moana 2” is already number five on our list because of how good it was. Even though it wasn’t the best Disney movie to come out in 2024, it was definitely a good watch.

4. Inside Out 2

Out of all the animated movies that came out in 2024, “Inside Out 2” has to be the best one in our opinion. It picks up a couple of years after the original and it introduces new characters that you will either love or despise. It was a fun film for the whole family that will entertain people of all ages.

3. Gladiator II

After almost 25 years of waiting, we finally got a sequel to the film “Gladiator,” and it was definitely worth the wait. We ranked this as the third best movie on this list because of how good it was, from the entire design to the cleverness of the script. If you haven’t seen the first movie, then we recommend you watch it before you watch the sequel.

2. Wicked

Some may argue that “Wicked” is the best movie of the year, but we beg to differ. It is still an incredible movie, nonetheless, but just not first place material in our opinion. “Wicked” is a fun movie that all ages can enjoy, and the soundtrack will certainly leave you with catchy songs stuck in your head.

1. Deadpool & Wolverine

This film definitely lived up to its expectations, if not far exceeding them. Although you’d probably enjoy it more if you were a die-hard Marvel fan, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is still a film that any movie lover will like. Due to the large amount of language and violence depicted, it has an R-rating, meaning it isn’t for younger viewers. We chose this to be the best film of the year because it certainly delivered and paid homage to past Marvel movies, while still being incredibly funny and entertaining.
