Music In The Park Lineup

Every summer, Central Park holds “Music In The Park” at the amphitheater. Every Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. during the months of May and June, different bands come and play so families and friends can listen and relax. But which bands are really worth listening to?

Week One: Journey cover band. They sound good and play well. They sound good when singing Journey songs.

Week Two: The band is called “Shameless,” and is a tribute group to Garth Brooks, and will play some of his biggest hits. The only reason I would skip this band is because I am not the biggest fan of country music, but people who do like it will enjoy them.

Week Three: The band is called The Rockmolly Band. They will be playing songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. The tunes are retro compared to the previous bands, playing songs from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. This band is awesome because they do have that older sound and it sounds good when they are singing older songs. This group is a must see.

Week Four: Jon Christopher Davis is a singer songwriter and producer from Dallas. He has even written songs for Billy Ray Cyrus and Dolly Parton. His set will have a blend of rock, country and soul music. This one is a must see, too.

Week Five: This band is called “Downtown Fever.” They are playing a range of songs: from Earth, Wind, and Fire songs to P!nk and Bruno Mars. I will be going to see this band not just because they sound good, but because I like the range that this band has.

Week Six: This band is called Epic Unplugged. They play songs that are from the ‘80s. They also sang “Imagine” originally by John Lennon really well. This is a band I would not want to miss because they have that older sound.

Week Seven: Jamie Richards is known for his traditional country music sound. Richards is good and definitely sounds like a traditional country singer, but again I would skip out on this concert because I am not a huge fan of country music that sounds insanely twangy.

Week Eight: This band is playing the ’80s hits. I love ’80s music, but in my opinion, their singers did not sound that great. I’m not sure if I would go to this one. The band’s name is “’80s Party Band.”

Week Nine: The final band is bringing a tropical vibe. The band is called Endless Summer. They sound good and are good at singing songs by The Beach Boys. I would not skip this band because to me the Beach Boys’ music feels like summer and this is a good band to end music in the park.
