With the school year coming to an end, that means many things, including electing a new student council. We interviewed your 2025-26 student council to get to know them.

Junior and incoming president Story Hilliard explained her role for next year.

“I am the connection between the student body and administration,” Hilliard said. “I’m the bridge in between.”

Hilliard then talked about her passion of helping around campus.

“I love student council and I love making our school a better place,” Hilliard said. “I love the things that come with stuco and being involved in the school.”

She also explained her goals for the upcoming school year.

“Next year I definitely want to do a lot more projects and get the student body involved in student council,” Hilliard said. “I also want to get the junior high involved as well. I want to have more fun events and more things to participate in.”

Junior and incoming STUCO vice president Lainey Gentry gave her thoughts on the school.

“I want our school to come together more and be more inclusive,” Gentry said.

She then gave an opinion on what being vice president means to her.

“I feel like being a vice president gives you more of a voice,” Gentry said. “So I could give other people a voice.”

But apart from being a voice to students, there are also other important positions that should not go unnoticed.

“I’m the one who deals with money and PO orders,” Junior and incoming treasurer Nolan Wright said.

He then says why he thinks he is best qualified for the job.

“I like working with money and I’m good at math,” Wright said. “So it was the position that fit me best.”

Sophomore and incoming recording secretary Abigail Chrisman is someone with an important job as well.

“I take notes and make sure the meetings run smoothly,” Chrisman said.

She said she is looking forward to next year.

“My goal for next year is for student council to run smoothly,” Chrisman said. “And for there to be no issues.”

And of course, there has to be someone in charge of the media side of STUCO.

“I wanted to run for this position because I wanted to be able to spread good to people through social media,” junior and incoming corresponding secretary Brianna Ayala said. “I’m trying new ways to reach the people instead of just keeping it to STUCO.”

All of the members seem to agree on one thing.

“I really enjoy student council,” junior and incoming STUCO parliamentarian Miranda Sanchez said. “I like being involved and that’s basically what student council is all about.”
