The Sting would like to welcome Kirk Hance, the new Auto Basics and Auto Tech II teacher. This is Hance’s first year as a teacher.

“I’ve had people that I have taught in industry, in one form or another, but I have never taught students on a high school level,” Hance said.

After attending to Lincoln College of Technology in Grand Prairie, Hance began his career gaining hands-on expertise before he switched to teaching.

“I was in the automotive field and ran my own automotive repair business for a number of years,” Hance said. “Then I went to work for General Electric as an engineer, doing testing on their locomotive electric line.”

Hance mentioned that his opportunity to teach came at an unexpected time.

“Out of a really interesting series of events, this job just came up and all of the doors completely swung open,” Hance said. “I figured what better way to take the next step in life, but to pass my knowledge on to the next generation.”
