Dear Coach Moorman,

Thank you for being someone I can always count on to stay positive. Thank you for always being someone I can talk to. I appreciate you more than you know.

You always brought a fun, relaxed energy into class. Thinking about your class, and walking in instantly made my day better. The environment in your classroom is like no other.

One day, when I got my AirPods taken up (which was literally the only time), you just kept taunting me with the words, “You shouldn’t have had it out.” It reminded me of a parent. It was like you were teaching me a lesson that my ‘excuses were just excuses.’ It made me look up to you even more after that.

I was shocked when I found an old video from my elementary field day and realized you were in it, volunteering there while you were in high school. Seeing the video made me laugh. I couldn’t believe that all these years later, you would end up being my teacher. It’s crazy to think that a random video could unexpectedly end up connecting to my favorite teacher. The world truly is such a small place.

As this school year has been very crazy for you, with your son being born and you applying for a new job, you never let that affect the way you treat us. That’s what makes you such a great teacher. You never fail to bring kindness, humor, and a bright smile to class. I am so grateful for you.

You didn’t just teach me world history, you taught me valuable lessons in life, too. Like to not be a stupid driver once I get my license, and that I should really know my geography. I’m not sure how you put up with me sometimes, but you constantly show what it means to be a great leader and teacher. You are so supportive and uplifting.

I am going to miss you, Coach “GOAT” man! You left a remarkable impact on my life. Thank you for being my favorite teacher. It was a blessing.

Sincerely,

Haylee Collins
