Starting next year, juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to qualify for a hybrid school day schedule.
“We are exploring hybrid options and all the nuances that come with it,” lead counselor Jaime Canida said.
Students will still be enrolled in the district and will have to show up for certain periods of the day, and important tests for online classes will most likely be at the school, in person.
“We’re having a parent meeting at the end of March just to give them information on how this virtual program is going to look,” principal Nate Driver said. “We’re putting out an interest form before we release for spring break.”
Expectations and qualifications for eligibility are going to be announced during this meeting. This will include what classes are going to be offered.
The hybrid schedule will be partially online and have requirements that students need to meet in order to be eligible to participate. There will be teachers who will be completely focused on teaching these online classes.
Seniors can take up to three online classes, but juniors can take two. Only English, social studies and math will be online. U.S. history will not be available as an online class as it is a tested subject.
These classes are not off periods. They will be just as rigorous as in-person classes. Students have the freedom to do these classes on their own time rather than during a certain time period.
Please know that none of this is finalized as of this writing. More information will be sent out to parents and students. Please watch your inbox for emails from counselors or announcements from the school.
