Senior Year Band Recap

Cynthia Garcia

The Sax and Low Reed section at Hornet Stadium at the San Antonio Send Off!

It was the first day of summer band camp and all of us band members were standing in attention at the upper lot. The sun was shining extremely bright, especially on my head, and I was struggling to stay still. The band was working to get their marching technique perfect, and the band was waiting for the band director to instruct them to take their first marching setp for the hundredth time.

Now let’s skip to the good part.

Wow! We have accomplished so much this marching season. We made finals at every competition. Some of our most honorable moments were breaking school history by making finals at a Bands of America competition for the first time, as well as being the best 5A band at the Birdville Marching Festival. I could not be prouder of how amazing we have done this marching season. Our hard work and dedication paid off in the end. We also scored 50th place, which was the highest place we have ever scored at the Bands of America San Antonio Regional.

This marching season could not have been the same without our wonderful band directors and everyone else who helped make everything possible. I also want to thank my amazing section for making every band event spectacular, especially Elli and Holt. Thank y’all for making my last time spent with the band the best. I am glad I was able to spend my last marching season with some of the greatest people I have ever met. I am really thankful for the memories I have made from the long rehearsals to the competitions that I will cherish forever.

This is Tenor Sax 1, signing off.
