Girls softball season just started and they are ending up on top. Their last game was against Saginaw High School and they took home the win, 12-2.
“My personal season is going great,” senior Torrie Johnson said. “I’m accomplishing a lot, although I still have to hit many more goals. I am excited to move forward with this sport I fell in love with.”
Torrie said she plans on continuing softball at the collegiate level at North Central Texas College for the next two years. She adds how her team is getting better every practice and every game, even if the sport is challenging.
“Personally, I think we are going to get very far in the playoffs this year,” Torrie said. “We mainly hype each other up and I think it helps us be more motivated to be better.”
Softball coach Macy Pruit said she loves this sport because of the competitiveness, the bonds she makes with the girls and the overall connections the team has.
“I motivate the girls with as much positivity as possible,” Coach Pruit said. “This is a game of failure, so I try to reassure the girls to get them confident.”
Senior Morgan Terrell says it motivates her more to push through if she has others’ support.
“Our coach does a great job at inspiring us,” Morgan said.
Morgan accomplished one of her goals by becoming first team all-district. Even though she isn’t continuing softball in college, she said she is thankful for the many friendships she got from growing up with the same girls playing this sport.
“I’m sad that it is going to be over but it’s a sweet ending,” Morgan said. “All of us have played for so long together. I will never forget these memories.”
The Lady Hornets softball team has been working extremely hard this year and it seems like their determination and hard work has been paying off. The girl’s season lasts for 3 months and they have 13 games left. Next home game will be today against Granbury High School starting at 6:30 p.m.
