Country artist Megan Moroney has hinted at songs that would be in her new album “Cloud 9” since October. The full album dropped Feb. 20 with a total of 15 tracks. This album is being called her “pink era” after her blue, green and red eras. She keeps these colors a secret, adding more excitement for each new album.
This album expressed more of a confident and carefree vibe. On her social media platforms, she gave hints and dropped different songs. For four years, she wrote and posted clips of her new song from “Cloud 9,” called “Wedding Dress.” This song was always a social media favorite, and when the final version dropped, it was just as good as everyone thought. During her “Am I Okay” tour, she played one of her songs from the album, “Beautiful Things,” and released a video of it on YouTube. I had the opportunity to hear this song live as one of the surprise songs at her concert. The meaning behind this song is beautiful, and this song just connects girls together. She wrote this for her baby niece as she grows up experiencing girl things and troubles.
She connects a lot of her songs to being the “other girl” by introducing the song “Bells and Whistles.” This song relates to the song “Break it Right Back” from her “Am I Okay” album, which is one of her most popular songs. She has always written songs that could be relatable to anyone. You are able to be seen with your experiences through her different songs.
Some critics are saying this is more of a “pop-country” album, but I enjoy the new energy through this album. She puts some of her songs together from each album that have the same beats and stories behind them. I enjoy the excitement from her new-sounding songs, but I love being able to hear songs that sound like something from her old albums.
