New Universal Studios Theme Park plans released for Frisco
Plans for a new Universal Studios theme park in our very own Dallas-Fort Worth area were released Jan. 11 by Universal Theme Parks and Resorts executives. The theme park and resort hotel will be featured in Frisco, Texas, and will include attractions and developments for individuals of all ages to enjoy.
Mark Woodbury, the Universal Parks and Resorts Chairman and CEO, stated that the park will be “unlike any other Universal park in the world” according to NBCDFW news. With this, Universal Parks Corporate explains that the park will be “more intimate and engaging for younger audiences.”
Though the park will be smaller and directed towards families with children, everyone will be able to meet beloved characters, engage in rides, and experience the same fun as other Universal theme parks.
“It will be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues. Although smaller in size, it will still carry the same quality as Universal’s other larger resort destinations.” as said by Universal Parks Corporate.
The city of Frisco, Texas was chosen due to its growing popularity and with the hopes of attracting new businesses and fans of Universal Studios from all over the world. Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney is looking forward to the new opportunities that the park will bring to North Texas.
“It’s going to be a big win for our tax base, local business here, small business, the restaurants, the hotels, shopping you name it,” Cheney told NBCDFW News. “It’s going to be a big economic boom.”
While Universal Studios has not yet released when the theme park will be opening, it is estimated that it will take years to complete. If you are a fan of Universal Studios or looking to have a one-of-a-kind experience near you, make sure to keep up with updates and check out the theme park when the time comes.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans,” Page Thompson, President, New Ventures, Universal Parks & Resorts, according to Universal Studios Corporate said.
