To the Everyday Hero: Happy Mother’s Day
This Sunday is the day to celebrate mothers across the globe. The American holiday started in the 20th century, from a day of worship service at Andrews Methodist Episcopal in West Virginia. The church thought it was a perfect day to give thanks to mothers and is now known as the International Mothers Day Shrine.
Mother’s Day is well known in the United States and often celebrated in many ways. Thing’s like buying sweets and cards, taking her out to eat, having breakfast in bed, getting flowers and gifts, and so much more.
Taking your mom out to eat is one of the most popular ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. There are lots of places around Azle you can take your mother to. CJ’s Cafe in Azle is a great place to take your mother. Open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day, CJ’s is a family-owned cafe with food options like breakfast and lunch food.
Located in Weatherford is The Malt Shop. It’s very popular on Mother’s Day. The Malt Shop is open from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and their lunch is most popular at this drive-in. They have outdoor seating as well as being able to eat in your car. After you eat, you could take a quick drive to Weatherford to shop.
This year I am making my mom her favorite breakfast from her childhood, bratkartoffeln, a German dish with potatoes, eggs, cheese, and ham. After that, I am giving her a card and some flowers. My family also plans on taking her out for lunch after church. We hope to make her day special.
Taking your mother out to do things and dedicating a day to her makes such an impact. Mothers across the globe deserve the appreciation and it’s important to celebrate this special day for her. Make sure to tell your mother how much you love her on May 14, and thank you to all the mothers out there.
