The Sting would like to recognize and welcome one of our new teachers, Amanda McIntire, to Azle High School. This year, she will teach OnRamps Geoscience and Environmental Systems. Entering her 10th year in teaching, McIntire made the choice to move to Azle to continue working as a science teacher.
“I chose Azle because I have several friends that have been here,” McIntire said, “My cousin also teaches here as well. I heard that the administration is extremely supportive of teachers and everything I heard was positive about here.”
She previously worked at Boyd High School for 9 years, which happened to be where she graduated from.
“My grandmother was a high school English teacher,” McIntire said. “I guess it was just kind of always in my genes.”
McIntire studied geology, biology and minored in math in her time at Angelo State University. It was there that she decided to pursue teaching high school.
“Through college I tutored, and I was a mentor and did all that type of stuff,” McIntire said. “I guess it just was second nature when I decided Oh, hey, maybe I should teach.”
