Library is decked out for Christmas

Christmas trees have been traditional since the 16th century, originating in Germany and symbolizing eternal life, but are they really necessary for Christmas?

A survey was conducted through the Sting Newspaper’s Instagram page and 70 percent of those who participated agreed that this holiday needs a Christmas tree. The first Christmas tree was used on December 24, 1510, the religious feast day of Adam and Eve, for families to set up a paradise tree in their homes.

To explain further, in ancient times, people hung evergreen boughs over their doors and windows. In many countries, it was believed that evergreens would keep away witches, ghosts, evil spirits, and illness.

Clearly, there are many different beliefs about Christmas and Christmas trees. That said, there are many reasons a Christmas tree is needed, not just belief-wise. For example, without a Christmas tree, presents will be scattered, and no joyful kids can decorate it.

Presents in the middle of the room make the room look tacky and cluttered, but by putting them under the traditional Christmas tree, the room instantly looks naturally less crowded.

Without the traditional decorating of the Christmas tree, couples visiting each other’s families won’t have the bonding experience with their partner’s family.
