The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, has been a part of the R&B music industry since 2009 with his first single, “Wicked Games,” which is now a part of the “Trilogy” album, and his first album, “Kiss Kiss.” “Hurry Up Tomorrow” was released Jan. 31 and will be the last of XO.
With his new ending and his new beginning, there will be a movie named after his recently released album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” A few members of the cast include Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, Charli D’Amelio, Gabby Barrett and obviously the main character, Abel. This film will be strictly based on what the album is about.
Abel has openly expressed that he is ready to move on from “The Weeknd” as a persona when it comes to writing music. He aims to pursue writing and creating music under his own name. He said he hopes to seek new opportunities and different musical directions throughout his journey on a new path, which is why “Hurry Up Tomorrow” will be the final from “The Weeknd” himself.
Throughout his album, there are tracks that feature a variety of different music artists like Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Lana Del Rey, etc. I love it because it gives different feels and vibes to those specific songs. I like how each track blends into the next, meaning when one ends, the music fades into the intro of the upcoming one. As Abel wants to move forward from his “The Weeknd” era, he sends that message throughout all the tracks as they are about moving forward and coming from the darkness for a new perspective of light.
Overall, the music The Weeknd has written before, I have always been a fan of since the 7th grade, so it’s hard for him to disappoint me in general, and “Hurry Up Tomorrow” did not disappoint me. There’s not a track that I don’t like listening to throughout, and knowing there’s going to be a movie strictly based off The Weeknd about his past and how he will be moving on is exciting in itself. I’m ready to see what Abel does next with a fresh start. “I’ll accept that it’s the end and I hope that I find what I’m looking for.” ~ The Weeknd, Hurry Up Tomorrow.
