We Don’t Talk About Disney Songs Enough
There are just some times when you hear a Disney song and you can’t get it out of your head. There have been multiple times where a new Disney song comes out and you hear it everywhere. On the radio, on your phone, and even from your kids.
“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” by Lin-Manuel Miranda is the most recent, which became number one on Billboard Global 200 on Feb. 7. It was the most heard of on TikTok. People would make dances, do makeup inspired by the song and characters, and make trends of some of the scenes from the movie. The song drew 69.3 million streams and sold 19,000 copies worldwide.
That wasn’t the first time that a Disney Song hit Billboard Global. “Let it go” by Idina Menzel, from the movie “Frozen,” hit number 5, sold 10.9 million copies in a year and won the Academy Award for best original song. This was the song that little kids loved to sing on repeat over and over again, but it was also the song that drove parents to the brink of insanity.
Another song that hit Billboard number one was “You’re Welcome” sung by Dwayne Johnson. It reached quadruple platinum status, sold 64,000 units, and 44,000 albums sold. The genius behind making this song was the man who wrote, not just Disney songs, but also Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Princess and the Frog and Descendants are some of the most popular Disney movies because of their soundtracks. The soundtracks made those movies.
The soundtrack makes the movie. I expect many more Disney songs to do just as well in the future as they have proven that Disney songs are loved by all. Whenever new movies are released, these Disney songs will have some competition.
