Assistant Principal Katy Burkham grew up in the DFW area and has fond memories of Azle from her childhood.
Although she didn’t grow up in Azle, Burkham used to visit here, ride horses, and talk to people around town. That history made her want to come back. She was also drawn by Mr. Driver, with whom she went to middle school. Burkham has three children, all girls, and has been married to her husband for almost 20 years.
After being a special education teacher for twenty years, a resource and inclusion English teacher, and an instructional coach, she has decided to take on a more supervisory role as assistant principal. Her goal is to connect with her students as well as her team of assistant principals. Burkham said she is passionate about what she does and is excited for a great school year with Azle.
