The beginning of the school year has arrived again, and this year the Sting would like to shine a spotlight on one of the newest teacher in the AHS special education department: Andrea Harman. Ms. Harman is most recently coming from Northwest ISD, and while she taught in the special education department there at the middle school level, she has experience teaching at the high school level, as well.
“I’ve always taught special education,” Harman said. “It’s my passion. I really like functional academics.”
Though Harman is new to the AHS community, she said she already feels welcome here from the faculty and staff.
“I love seeing the familiar faces of teachers here that I’ve worked with in previous years,” Harman said. “I love working with Coach Estes especially, who is my team teacher, but the entire department is awesome.”
Coming to a new school district, Harman said she also feels welcome at AHS because of its atmosphere.
“It seems very family-oriented and close-knit,” Harman said. “Everyone is really appreciative of one another here, and there’s a lot of school pride.”
