Soccer Car Wash Fundraiser

Azle High School’s boys and girls soccer team hosted a car wash at the Arby’s Texaco gas station to raise extra money for equipment and new jerseys for their upcoming season this fall.

“Our goal was to raise as much money as possible to pay for extra expenses that come up during the season,” girl’s head soccer coach Timothy Lyons said.

The girls and boys soccer team teamed up Saturday washing cars from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The athletes had to raise money for their new equipment and ended up raising a lot more money than they expected. They expected to raise about $400 but ended up raising close to $600 for washing cars and receiving donations.

“We worked our butts off running up and down the street with our neon signs in the heat and ended up successfully raising more than enough money for our new stuff,” sophomore Christine Krupa said.

Everyone left the car wash sun-kissed, covered in soap suds and the ability to buy new equipment so they can better their athletic abilities.
