Whether for an artsy date night or for a self-care expenditure, visiting a museum is crucial for creatives. With new collections being refreshed nearly three times a year and famous artists throughout, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, or The Modern for short, is a great place to let your mind absorb beautiful pieces of art. From sculptures to 3D media, paintings to light tracks on the floor, The Modern has something for everybody. I strongly suggest visiting when you can, as it has different exhibits frequently, there’s most likely something for you.

Their upcoming exhibit, Women Painting Women, showcases 46 female artists’ works of women. With mainly white men’s art being the most recognized art in the world, the museum has gathered paintings of women, all painted by other women. Paintings of women by men are often sexualized or made to be weak; these paintings, dating from the 1960s to the present day, display women in their element. Athletic women, women cooking, women just being women. And if that’s not your jam, the Modern has several other exhibits available.

When I went in November, the exhibit/special showcase was all upstairs, while the permanent pieces in the museum were all downstairs. The Modern is wheelchair accessible, too, so everyone can enjoy the artwork. From Van Gogh to Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol to Pablo Picasso, The Modern has famous and underground artists alike, offering a vast array of art styles, mediums, and artists for everyone.

My final review is this: my favorite museum I’ve been to thus far, and I plan to go again for my anniversary, since it was one of my first dates with my girlfriend, Katie. 10/10 toes.
