The Hornet Muscle is a group of male student athletes who are part of the Azle Co-ed Cheer Team. The Hornet Muscle works with both the Junior Varsity and the Varsity Cheer Teams.

Although people believe that the boys only stunt the cheerleaders, they also contribute to the team in many other ways.

“We mainly stunt by helping spot and throw the cheerleaders up but we also put a lot of energy into yelling to get the crowd hyped up,” junior Alex Perez said.

Although getting the hang of being on a team can be tough, the boys love being on the team.

“I have been on Hornet Muscle since my freshman year and even though I am just now getting a good idea of what it is like to co-ed with girls and I wouldn’t trade being in cheer for anything in the world,” junior Jake Mobley said.

The Hornet Muscle brings a lot of positive energy into the cheer team.

“The boys are a little crazy sometimes, but they are probably some of the most fun and positive people I have ever met,” senior Samantha Davis said. “Sometimes with just girls on a team there can be drama but the boys help even us out and they are just fun to be around.”

Not only is getting along on a team important but so are the bonds that are created within.

“I love being on Hornet Muscle because not only is it really fun, but it is really fun to be a part of a team where everyone is really close with each other,” Mobley said.
