A Hall was decorated by the PALs classes.

The homecoming football game will take place Oct. 8 with the theme of “Out of This World.” StuCo will organize and decorate the event. Along with the football game, there will be a parade Oct. 4, starting at 6 p.m. and a pep rally, the day of homecoming, the latter of which will be the first in over a year.

“We wanted to do something ‘out of this world’ and that we have never done before” StuCo Vice President Brooke Shocke said.

Following the COVID prevention efforts from last year and changing regulations, there will not be a homecoming dance. This change has also been made because of sunk costs caused by low attendance in previous years.

“Unfortunately we will not have a dance because the past attendance has been very low,” StuCo President Caden Christian said. “We ended up losing money so we had to make the tough decision to not have a dance.”

The aforementioned theme was chosen to differentiate the event from past themes and create a unique experience for students. There will also be a decoration competition between grade-levels, each grade will be assigned a hall to decorate and when they’re finished, a winner will be chosen by judges.

“Throughout my years at AHS students have expressed wanting to stray away from the same sort of theme,” Shocke said. “This one is definitely unlike any one we’ve done before.”

The homecoming king and queen nominations follow the same system seen in previous years. The nominations for which are as follows: Jesse Mauerhan, Holt Lee, Dev Patel, Caden Christian, Alina Meshi, Natalie Cain, Garrisyn Christian, and Haylee Alphin.

This year will also follow suit in terms of dress-up days, each day on the week of homecoming has a space-related dress up theme. Starting from Oct. 4, Monday’s theme is “Space Jam” (favorite basketball team), Tuesday’s is galaxy (dress in blues, purples, and silver), Wednesday’s is space cowboy (western clothes with a space twist), Thursday is “Star Wars” (class colors: black for freshmen, green for sophomores, silver for juniors and white for seniors), and Friday is Close Encounters of the Green Kind (green out).
