2009 saw the start of the ethereal world known as Pandora, created by James Cameron. When paraplegic Marine Jake Sully played by Sam Worthington, was sent to the world to convince the natives, the Na’vi, to evacuate the island. While on his mission, he felt more at home there than anywhere else. 14 years later, the sequel to the movie has been released and people are obsessed.

While the first movie was notoriously known for being extremely long, none of that changed in the second “Avatar: The Way of Water.” The movie is three hours and 12 minutes long, with this movie topping the original time by over an hour longer.

Now, when it comes to the actual movie, it had many of the original characters including Sully, Neytiri played by Zoe Saldaña, Parker Selfridge played by Giovanni Ribisi and Dr. Max Patel played by Dileep Rao. However, we see plenty of new characters, including the Sullys’ four children. Their two sons, Neteyam played by Jamie Flatters, and Lo’ak played by Britain Dalton. Their daughter Tuk played by Trinity Jo-Ki Bliss and their adopted daughter Kiri played by Sigourney Weaver.

I personally loved the first movie and could already tell it was a perfect starter for a longer storyline. One of my favorite things about the first movie was the incredible editing of the movie. It was so incredibly ahead of its time and this sequel did not disappoint when it came time for that factor to shine.

The movie includes many scenes of the gorgeous nature of Pandora including views into an entire ocean habitat. I thought this feature was absolutely incredible and added so much to the movie.

I also really loved how they added to the storyline of new characters, a new mission, and more into Jake Sully’s history.

The only negative thing I and many other people have to say about this movie is that it was a little drawn out. Some scenes were used as a filler and honestly not needed for the already long length of the movie.

Overall, I rate this movie a solid eight out of ten. Make sure you go check it out in theatres around you or on Disney+.
