The Lady Hornet JV softball team received the title of district champs. Their dedication and hard work helped them achieve this title.

The season started with a loss from Colleyville Heritage and ended with a win from their rival Boswell.

“Our first game, we lost and we could have done better,” freshman Brianna Cochran said. “After that, we fought hard.”

The JV team did not only have an impressive winning streak but they also had impressive chemistry.

“I love the team bonding, and everyone on the team,” sophomore Reyna Alcantar said. “Each person had an important role on the field.”

Even though they had great team building skills, they also did have some tough days.

“We had some off days though, but that’s normal for an athlete,” Cochran said. “Nobody is perfect, you’re always going to have good and bad days.”

This season the whole team is proud of what they accomplished but they also know there is always room for advancement.

“Honestly I think we did excellent,” Alcantar said. “But there’s always room for improvement with hitting or fielding.”

Their coach will always be proud of what they achieved this season and the future of the team.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girl to share this journey with,” JV Coach Kenley Buckholt said. “From day one in January, these girls came to practice with smiles on their faces determined to get better, what more could you ask for as a coach?”
