Nearing the end of this year’s season, the Emerald Dazzlers will put on their Hollywood-themed annual spring show. They will perform April 26-27 in the auditorium. The show will include previous competition routines, a senior routine, a dazzler of the week routine, a routine for any alternatives, and a closer that includes everyone.

The Dazzlers had just finished their competition season competing in 3 competitions. They had placed 3rd and up for all of them, making huge progress throughout the year.

“We have grown so much as a team this year exploring different genres of dance,” captain and junior Denali Rubio said. “I can’t wait to show off all of our hard work at our show.”

They will perform to the songs “Back on 74” by Jungle, “Somebody I Used To Know” by Gotye, “La Freak” by CHIC, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” by Tears For Fears, “Material Girl” and “Primadona” By Madonna, and “I Like It Like That” by Pete Rodriguez.

“I love our selection of music this year,” sophomore Lynnleigh Williams said. “It really is such a good variety and there is a song for everyone to enjoy.”

Dazzlers coach Crystal Martinez said they have been working hard all year and this is the time to show off their skills, especially the rookies on the team who have shown so much growth and passion for dancing throughout the year.

“The rookies have definitely been working extra hard to learn new skills and show progress throughout the year,” senior Lieutenant Caitlyn Sanders said. “Next year, I am certain that they are going to do amazing things.”

The Dazzlers rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:20 to 7:00 as well as during fifth period. Their everyday practice starts with 30 minutes of stretching and warming up then they go into their current routines, cleaning and performing them until performance day.

“There are currently 10 routines and nine solos being learned throughout the team,” senior Lieutenant Ryllon Farmer said. “With this being our last performance, we love to go all out.”

After the spring show, the Dazzlers start practice for the 2024-2025 team. They will go back to the basics learning the school fight song and technique.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better team,” Martinez said. “This year has truly been a blessing for all of us.”
